Why can't I find the correct sound driver for my laptop?

Posted this in the laptop forum, but still have the problem.

The information I get from lspci -v is

00:14.5 Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 4341
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company: Unknown device 006b
Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, slow devsel, latency 64, IRQ 10
Memory at d0003000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256]

dmesg shows that ALSA tries to load, but can't find the soundcard

Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.4rc2 (Tue Mar 30 08:19:30 2004 UTC).
ALSA device list:
No soundcards found.

complete lspci and dmesg outputs are available On this Thread

any ideas where to go next?

I am a relative ,

Thanks for the help.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
