Smile White Screen Install Failure Fix for nvidia Video

White Screen Install Failure Fix

Put:

Option "NvAgp" "1"

Into your /etc/X11/XF86Config file in the device section for your video card:

Here is my whole section:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "MSI GeForce 5600"
VideoRam 262144
Option "NvAgp" "1"
Option "NoLogo" "true"
Option "CursorShadow" "true"
EndSection

The README says to go to "NvAgp" "0" as a first try and if that works, try 1. More info in the readme but that fixed it up great for me.

I had been getting a lockup after the X cursor to a light gray screen with a white box where you would think you would put your login ID. But it was a total lockup - took a hard reset to get out of it.

The problem for me was the NvAgp setting.
