Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Which wireless NIC's does Linux (ubuntu) support best?

I bought a Belkin Pre-N card, but since Kismet doesnt support any cards that run through ndiswrapper, I decided to get a different one. I know that the Atheros, Lucent, Orinoco, etc. chipsets are the best supported, but could someone tell me exactly which cards are best, and are supported by kismet. I would ideally need to access both 802.11b and 802.11g

I don't know about ubuntu or even hardware support, but it is very well know that kismet like the prism chipset card very much, especially the prism 2.5 version. These cards support awesome features like boosting the transmit power or that kind of tricks.

Thanks for the reply. Since Atheros is the best supported, I exchanged my card for a Netgear WG511T and so far so good.
