For any prism-based card or usb widget (prism 2.x or 3.x) you can use wlan-ng. You can get source or rpm's for RH8.

I use the MA311 (netgear) pci; a popular usb widget is made by --get this-- Microsoft.

For my access point I use a D-Link. Stay away from D-Link PCI cards, though, unless you can lay your hands on an older (1 yr+) D-Link 520. D-Link has moved to TI and Broadcom based cards. No linux support, yet, for either of them.

HTH

Cheers--
Charles

Moved: More suitable in Hardware. Maybe now you won't have to bump the thread so often since its in a more suitable forum now.

Also when bumping threads, try to make it a day before bumping it back up, we get alot of traffic here and threads can be swallowed up quickly, but we don't necessarily need to bump threads every few hours.

I'm assuming PCI, so avoid the Dlink DWL-520+, or actually anything from Dlink with the "+" in its name, its a TI debacle, a mess... the DWL-520 is fine. Also, the current iteration of the WMP11, the v2.7 is a broadcom chipset, also unsupported, if you get one, get an older one. Netgears offerings seem to be still a safe bet. None of the current 802.11g offerings work yet, some of the 802.11a cards do, post back if you want info on those, and if you want to get access point functionailty, one of the prism based cards and the host_ap drivers would work awesome.

Cheers,

Finegan

Same boat....Redhat 8 with Belkin pcmcia wireless card. Belkin says linux support is coming soon to a theater near you...yeah right.

But they said it was based on Broadcom driver. I haven't been able to get it to work yet.

Yeah, there's nothing currently out there for the broadcom... they're being weenies about releasing enough info for anyone to make a proper driver from. To make certain its a broadcom though, check:

/sbin/lspci
