which version of RHEL can support haswell processor?

Hello LQ peoole~

I've joined in this site today.
Cuz I've got a question.

umm.. Today I saw a error message while RHEL 6.3 installing.

Devices have follow spec

1. I7 4790 haswell processor

2. 4TB harddisk * 6

And error message was popup after I select install method - with basic graphic.

- kernel panic not syncing fatal exception

So I think the problem is CPU.....

does you guys agree with me?

P.S So I'm downloading RHEL 6.5...now

It's because of the older kernel. I had the same problem. Using a newer OS with a 3.x kernel should work.

keep in mind that RHEL 6.3 is not the newest release of the v6 its 6.5. were you using the 32 or 64bit version or RHEL? the 32bit might run into issues even with PAL, but the 64bit should have zero issues.

In my case, it was because RHEL 6.5 was using the 2.6.x kernel instead of the 3.x kernel. So even the latest RHEL 6.x series likely wouldn't resolve his issue (as it didn't resolve it for me). The hardware support just isn't apparently there.
