Which Print system is compatible withHP-Deskjet 890C in Linux-Slax?

I was told that the HP-Deskjet 890C is not a Postscript printer.
Which Print system is compatible with HP-Deskjet 890C and under which directory shouldi I install it?

I have tried to install this printer in my program Linux-Slax Live-CD for the last two weeks with no success at all. I can't even access CUPS Localhost: 631.
Should it be installed under LPR/LPRng Print system or KDE Print?

Your valuable help will be appreciated.

Charles.

You can find very detailed instructions here:

http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...P-DeskJet_890C

However, what did you try to do to install it?

Memo to Cyclop:
Thank you for your answer.
Here is what I did so far:

Problem Installing HP Deskjet 890C on Slax-Live-CD-Jun.4.05
File \\586\\E\data\Linux\*.doc - Jun.4,05
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried to install the printer HP Deskjet 890-C as local printer
on my Desktop computer AMD, using Slax Live-CD, 5.0.5

This is the PATH I used:
SLAX Live-CD. Control Center> Peripherals. Printers>

- Print system currently used: LPR/LPRng Print system
Spooler Type: LPR (BSD compatible)
- Print to File (PDF)
- Add: Printer Class
- Printer Wizard Screen: KDE Print comes up!
- Backend selection: (Local printer, parallel, serial, USB)
- Local port selection: - Parallel Port #1 (parallel /dev/lp0)
- Printer Model selection:

Here an ERROR MESSAGE shows up:
“Internal Error: Unable to locate the driver”
- Manufacturer of printer: NO RESPONSE, unable to input anything
- Model : “ “ “ “ “ “

WHAT DID I DO WRONG?

My computer: AMD Athlon 64 , Processor 1.93 Mhz., Desktop
RAM 512 MB
Hard drive: Seagate 160 MB
This computer is networked via a Linksys router (Model BEFW11S4)
to a 586 Computer.

I wonder if I should download the “Foomatic-rip” backend filter script? ?
And is there anything else I should download?

Your help to sort these things out will be appreciated.

Charles.
