which motherboard to buy?

Most of the hardware I had in the junkbox I was hoping to use
turns out to be real junk.

I have a brand new ATX case, but can not count on any of the boards I have working.

I need to know the model number and manufacturer of a cheap all in one motherboard. The kind with onboard video, audio, and lan that will work ok with Redhat 7.3 or another current package.

Price is a major consideration. Checking out what will work is harder than you may think.

Thanks for any help, I need it.

which processor do you have in mind?

Duron or one of the lower athlon xp's

With the difference between the athys and the durons being about $20, get the Athy, the pure clock speed doesn't matter as much as the on die cache. Any DDR mobo, Asus, Abit, Epox, are the companies I've had luck with. Something with a 333Mhz bus for RAM and an ATA 100 or 133 controller so you can get the most out of your harddrives. That and make certain to get some name brand DDR ram and you'll be set. www.pricewatch.com is about the best place to find anything, if you didn't already know that.

Luck,

Finegan
