Which Modem to buy?

Ok searching for an External Hardware Based Serial modem (It's going to be used on my triple boot RedHat 7.2, Mandrake 8.2, Win98SE PC mostly for just surfing the net). I found the same model number at 2 different places and 2 different prices, so I'm asking everyone for advice on which one is a better deal.

This one says V.90 with the drivers, serial cable, doesn't mention the power adaptor and is shown as white in color.

This one is without the serial cable and says it's V.92 also says black in color.

Now color doesn't matter to me what I want to know is:
Is it worth the price difference, or would I be better off just buying the cheaper one and get the cable?
I understand a little about the V.90/V.92 Protocol and right now I have a second "Basic" phone line for the Internet (no call waiting or callerID). Also I rarely upload anything mostly download and surf the net.

To put it simple I guess I'm asking which one you would buy.

Thanks guys

hi,
Well i think that you should buy the second one (v.92 black color).
At this time buying a v.92 modem is a waste of money for some people ... i guess. If you just buy a v.90 modem today, oneday, when your ISP will inform you that we have upgraded to v.92 technologies, and your friends neighbours and classmates too are going to tell you how they are enjoying the v.92, you would be sorry that you didn't bought a v.92 modem. but one thing that i want to tell you is that if you want your modem to work properly with linux, buy a serial one. I just bought a u.s. robotics 56k modem USB and i guess i just doomed my money. RH 8.0 dont detect it and other people are also telling me that a USB modem cant work on a linux, until and unless a driver is written for it. So i am still waiting for the driver to be written. If anyone have any informatión in this regard dont forget to inform me.
regards,
Fadain.

Go to the shop and look at the box, if it has UNIX in the list of supported operating systems then it's a real hardware modem and will work in linux.
