Where to find a "nice" Howto" for modem setup and use for IPS usage

Hello,

I have used Linux, rh6.2, 7.0, 9.0, Mandrake 9, 10,Linspire 5 Ohhh, Fedora core 5 and now 6. I like to say hello to everyone.

I have always avoided messing around with a 56k modem. Can Anybody point me to some thread or webpage on how to set up a modem to reach an IPS and to fax from. Linspire computer I bought worked without having to poking around.

Thank You
xerxesii

You can read the Linmodem Howto and ckeck linmodems.org for info about drivers for your modem.

Purchase an external rs-232 modem. Plug in the rs-232 serial cable. Plug in the power connector. Turn on the modem power switch. Reboot the computer. Setup Kppp, Wvdial, Kinternet or Gkdial, etc. Enjoy. ADSL is even better, and worth the two charges.
