Question When removing USB Stick a error is displayed

Can anyone help me with the following problem

I umount the USB Stick.
After that I removed the USB Stick.
A following error is displayed:
sda: test WP failed, assume Write Enabled
I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
unable to read partition table
sda: Unit Not Ready, sense:
Info fld=0xa00 (nonstdd), Currunt 00:00 sense key Not Ready

Does anyone know how I can prevent this error message?
Must I stop the /dev/usbdrive after umount? How do I do that?
Or must I do something else?

It would help to know what distro you're using. It looks like you are using some sort of auto mounting manager (automount, supermount, magicdev).

Does this happen all of the time or just when you write to the drive and then immediately unmount it? This could be a delayed buffer write and your removing the drive before its complete.

You might want to add the sync option to the fstab entry.

It always happens when I unplug the USB Stick, after I run umount.

I'm not familiar with fstab options. How should I use the Sync command?
Does this work in my situation?
