Well, that would really be your choice on what you want and need out of it, like do you game, or just surf the net, office type stuff or graphics design ??

I would just recommend trying to pinpoint several cards that you would want, then check the compatibility of them with your system and then Linux, that would help you narrow down your search for what is best suitable for you.

Yeah like Tricky said, anything will work with the system you described, but we need to know more about you. For instance:

I'm poor: pick up a Voodoo3 Banshee 3dfx PCI card for 5 bucks, best PCI card ever!

I'm a frag junky that bleeds cash and dreams in first person shooter mode: Nvidia GeForce 4, download their drivers, frag away.

I'm a masochist: Get an ATI Radeon 9700 and fight with TV-out for weeks on end.

I don't game, but I have 4 monitors, 4 DVD drives, and want to watch 4 movies at the same time: Matrox!!!!!! Matrox!!!!! A G550 and a PCI G450 will do the trick. Or hell, got $350, get a Parahelion!

That's just a bit of a summary.... er, yeah.

I've got the money i just want to know what is the best for my system. I do all of the above i frag i surf i do office stuff and somewhat make graphics on my comp. I am just so sick of micro$oft and there stuff and lindows is just out of there mind wanting me to pay for beta ha ha ha ha. So thats when i decided to go with linux. I know i have been all thru these form and seen how hard it is going to be but im not putting anymore money in to micro$oft. I'm a do it all guy. I sleep 4 hours in a 24 hour time period. The rest of the time my comp is on and running full speed. So if you can please tell me what one will be the best. Please

Nvidia produces their own drivers for Linux, they work well, are about the only thing decent with OpenGL, can't really argue with them. With the GeForce 4s out, the GeForce 3s are down to rational prices...
