Question What to look for when buying a switch

I need to buy a switch and was wondering what is a good reliable brand, and what should I look for in it's capabilities? It's for a DMZ, that will have an email and webserver on it. From what I understand I need a gigabit because of the webserver, but the rest of the capabilities I'm not sure what I really need and whats senseless to have.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what you need: Just a plain simple switch I would recommend netgear or 3com relativly cheap and good.

If it should be managable, maybe even with intrusion detection system or the option to monitor all traffic over a specific port (which might be good for a webserver to detect hacking attacks or stuff like that) I'd take a cisco switch.

Unfortunatly they are quite expensive.
