Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

What motherboard to use with AMD Athalon 64 and CentOS?

My company is going to build a couple of PCs running Linux, and by the nature of the situation, we must use both CentOS and AMD Athalon64 processors.

Does anyone have a motherboard that they can recommend that works well under these conditions? I've read of several, but they all have a bug or three in Linux support (i.e.- no graphics, no ethernet, etc.)

Hi

The Gigabyte K8NS Pro series (Triton) is a good choice. It is loaded with features: Gigabit ethernet (Marvell Yukon), IEEE1394 on board, AC97 on board Sound, loads of USB ports and comes with the nVidia nForce 3 chipset, which very Linux friendly. It is AGP, not PCI express, but is available and the older socket 754 and the newer socket 939, and it has four SATA drive support. It's about £80GB, or $140US.

Good choice, IMHO.

Bob
