What modules do I need to load to boot from a USB External Hard Drive?

I am trying to install Gentoo 2006.1 on my 200GB Maxtor external hard drive.
Before I finish the install, I would like to know which modules I have to load for my usb hard drive so that I can boot from it.
My bios supports booting from USB HDD, so I know that I can boot the drive.
P.S. I didn't know whether to put this question in software or hardware, so if an admin or moderator thinks it should be moved, feel free.
