what modems ARE recognized by Linux?

I usually have to find a driver to configure a modem with linux. WHat I am wondering is what brands of modems are recognized by linux without having to search for a driver?

the easiest way is to use external modems, ISA modems or PCI hardmodems. USB modems can be a choice too.

Bad modems are win-modems.

Brands do not vary this, too much. But if you are to buy a win-modem, prefer the Lucents.

This is good for you:
