So is mine. Runs Linux 99.9% of the time, but dual boots Windows 7 for 2 still-needed applications.

Ah come on now Ardvark. You re-enabled your old religious sig right after I replied to you on this thread. Jeremy warned you already about that sig.

I mainly go between my netbook & laptop, but am using a desktop more just recently, especially as I have just bought a Raspberry Pi3.

If I were to use only one, it would be my 11.5" netbook, so I voted netbook.

No, I never disabled it, so I don't know what happened on his or your end. And while I know you and others may disagree with it, I have no intention of disabling it.

Regards...

A desktop PC with two SATA hot-swappable removable hard drive docks in the front 5.25 inch bays. With a box full of accumulated hard drives, that means I can install each OS on it's own hdd without the hassle of mult-boot configuration issues - great for experimenting with different systems with zero risk to working installations. The OSes are all variations of Linux except for one Win7 installation for gaming. I plug another hdd into the second dock to perform a backup or get files from a storage hdd. When I shut the computer down I remove the hdd from the dock and put it in a box, so there's not much chance of data loss from a power surge.

That's the system I interact with the most, but I also have two (ahem) 'servers' running Ubuntu derivatives 24/7 - in actuality one is an old eee-pc notebook used as a clock/weather display (via conky) and continuous backup, and the other is an even older 'eMachine' used as a media server and squid/apt proxy. They were both acquired for free as they were about to be sent to the dump, and they both do their jobs well with minimal effort on my part, and use very little power to do so.

laptop, hp stream 11's. Although things don't run in 2GB of RAM anymore, so using a AMD E1-1500 APU desktop atm for 6GB of RAM. 1.5GHz dual core versus the 2.1GHz dual core of the hp stream 11. Although the more ram and amd gpu compensates a little bit. But not fanless so still annoying under load.

It's almost a tie between my laptop and my desktop, but I use the laptop a little more because it's in the living room where we do our living.

Desktops are the only way to go, period.
Thinkpads are great portable computers also but since I use laptops only on travel or to chill out, desktops are what I'm going for.

Replaceable and extentable hardware, nothing like a CPU or GPU chip that could make the entire system useless within splitseconds and also no forced UEFI or SecureBoot when building custom rigs.

The worst devices are to me Smart devices.
Yes, most of these are more than enough to do basic stuff but since these things are also bound to certain ecosystems for the most part, I'm still glad to have older devices that at least can run custom ROMs without further issues.

However, I won't judge anyone who prefers other hardware classes than I do as long as they don't make fun of me.
Computers are tools, fun tools but still tools.
Use whatever you like and as long as these things do their job fine that's great.
