This text has been extracted from grub.conf and usually I have seen this line like...
root = /dev/hda1 (or something like that)
in most tutorials.
Where did all this hex combination come from? What do they mean?
That is the Universally Unique IDentifyer number for that particular hardware (in this instance your harddrive). This is the method now used to register hardware to avoid name conflicts.
I understand that Nexus... But how can I use a UUID to lookup the device name?
Or is there some method that I can use to decipher to device just by looking at the UUID?
