What is the max memory a process can use?

We are currenly running a Oracle server on Windows. The DBA is complaining that the Oracle process cannot use more than than 2 GB of memory. I wanted to know what Linux maximum is. The current server has 16 GB of RAM. I have several Redhat and Fedora boxes so I am fairly comforatable with Linux. My question is how much memory can one process use in Linux? I know I will need to use the bigmem kernel. Thanks
