What is the best/cheapest PCI WiFi device for 2.4 kernel?

Hi,

I need to purchase a PCI 802.11b card for my machine which runs Fedora Core 2. Can you recommend a cheap/quality solution which will require a minimum amount of work to configure the device?

Thanks!

Jim

To make it easier for you, buy a 100 Mb NIC instead of a WiFi NIC. Then buy a WiFi to RJ-45 bridge. All you have to do is open up a web browser and change some settings in the bridge to suite your network. If you do this, it will make it a lot easier to place your system anywhere you want instead of anywhere your WiFi PCI card gets a signal.

Setting up WiFi in LINUX takes a lot of work than setting up a 100 Mb NIC.

I picked up a Netgear MA311 off ebay for cheap, and its been working great for me. Check out the HCL listing here . All I had to do was type in "iwconfig" and "dhcpcd" and I was off. Setting up WEP is a bit trickier(ok, MUCH trickier), but not worse than any other card, I would imagine.
