Agreed, basically.
I have personally observed chip response slowing under 0ºC - longer slew rates. But you can mark this solved, there is no ideal, there is a range. Personally, I'd stay in positive temperatures.

With an oscilloscope on the squarewaves.

I think the slew rate is more or less irrelevant as long as it is good enough - will not influence the speed (clock) of the system at all.
Longer (out of range) slew rates may cause issues, because the data (bit) will/may not arrive in time and therefore may cause instabilities. In such cases the clock speed should/can be lowered, but I think it does not happen automatically.

Er, yes and no. A bit of rounding on the edges is o. Then it depends how the chip is being driven, capacitance, a host of variables, including where the chip is being sampled.
