Unless you want to put something together yourself using Slackware or Tiny Core (not recommended for the beginner) you can use AntiX. That recommends 128MB RAM, but it will run in 64MB if that's all you have, although you'll be using a web browser that can't cope with some sites. The i686 version needs a Pentium Pro; the i486 version will run (rather slowly) on a Pentium I or an AMD K5.
