What graphics?

I'm putting together a new computer. I'm going for an Abit NF7-S motherboard with Athlon XP 2500.

Can't decide on graphics tho - can anyone recommend a reasonably good graphics card that'll work happily with Linux? (Slackware) Doesn't have to be cutting edge, as I'm not heavily into gaming.

Any advice gratefully received

If you're not a big gamer I would suggest any TNT2 or better nvidia AGP card. nvidia's drivers may be closed source but they work very well, at least for me. I have a GeForce2 MX a GeForce2 GTS and both work very well, the GTS card provides better frame rates in Enemy Territory than it did in Windows.

The bottom line is that most cards today focus heavily on gaming and if you're not into that you can get a card that works very well for very little money. How much are GeForce2 MX cards nowadays? A GeForce2 MX400 64MB with TV out can be had for just a little more than £20 if you're looking in the right place.

Addition: You might want to read my thoughts on Linux on the NF7-S revision 2 motherboard in the LinuxQuestions HCL. It's not ideal for Linux, especially regarding IDE and SATA performance which is seriously lacking, at least with current drivers.

Argh. So much for THAT mobo idea..

Looks like the Asus A7N8X Deluxe might be a better buy then. Cheers for the link! And for the graphics advice.
