What canon printer for linux ?
Hi everyone,
What canon printers, in the lowest prices, work very well with linux ? |
Almost any Canon printer will work very well with Linux if you use Turboprint, or if you are willing to fiddle with older S-series drivers for hours and hours you can get the free CUPS filters to work.

Thanks for the information.
I'm interrested by the canon ip1600 , has someone made it work with an old driver (S-serie) ? |
It's kind of ironic. For windows, the printers I like best are Canon's, especially because their drivers are unobtrusive.
But the thing that makes them great for Windows makes them not so great for Linux. To me the lack of good drivers for Canon printers is one of the biggest pains since I have a few and really like them. Not to mention that they don't soak you for ink carts like HP does. As far as Linux support goes HP's are way better. |
Things seem to change for some canon printers, just found this:

And this:

That's great news! I have an ip4000 and it's a great printer!
Trouble is, it's my on the road printer for work. My home printer is an i950. But at least it looks like Canon is starting to do the right thing, maybe I have some hope! |
