Question what can i do so that the linux kernel ver 2.4.20-8 can support usb


what can i do so that the linux kernel ver 2.4.20-8 can support usb? the following is some messege in linux kernel ver 2.4.20-8:

[root@localhost root]# dmesg |grep usb

[root@localhost winf]# insmod usbkbd.o
usbkbd.o: kernel-module version mismatch
usbkbd.o was compiled for kernel version 2.4.22
while this kernel is version 2.4.20-8.
[root@localhost winf]# modprobe usbkbd
modprobe: Can't locate module usbkbd

if i upgrade kernel to ver 2.6.6 which moudlue do i need to select?

well, the message says that your version of kernel is incompatible with the modules. Get hold of 2.4.22. Another thing you can do it get the kernel source code and then compile it yourself.

i get the kernel source code and then compile it myself.
but failed either using make command or gcc mommand! need i modify the source code, or i must use some special parameter!?

what are the error messages you get?

also, what is your distro? I don't understand why you have a 2.4.20 kernel but 2.4.22 modules on your system. Did you download the modules separately from somewhere?
