What are the labels for thermal sensors listed in /proc/acpi/ibm/thermal

I have a thinkpad p53, and I'm trying to determine what devices the temperatures listed in /proc/acpi/ibm/thermal refer to:

Code:

> cat /proc/acpi/ibm/thermal
temperatures:  38 36 0 0 42 41 50 -128

These correspond with the temperatures listed under thinkpad-isa-0000 when I monitor with lm-sensors:

Code:

thinkpad-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
fan1:        3432 RPM
temp1:        +38.0C
temp2:        +35.0C
temp3:        +0.0C
temp4:        +0.0C
temp5:        +42.0C
temp6:        +40.0C
temp7:        +50.0C
temp8:            N/A

Would anyone know how I might be able to identify what each of these temperatures represent?

See the file: /usr/src/linux/Documentation/laptops/thinkpad-acpi.txt

There's a section entitled "Temperature sensors" about 60% of the way into the file.

(Note: You'll need the kernel source package installed to see this file.)

HTH...

HTH...

Thanks - that does help. Empirically, it would seem the 7th sensor tends to be the battery.
