Western Digital WD 80 gb

I have a Western Digital WD 80 gb HD that fails to boot when it is hooked up.

It says

Secondary IDE Channel no 80 conductor

Taking the message at face value I would say that you hooked up the hard drive using a 40 wire cable instead of an 80 wire cable. Count the wires in the cable to check.
