Weird touchpad problem
I have been working on my laptop for a few days now to get it up and running just the way I want it, but have run into a bit of a snag. About two hours ago, while researching network file sharing with XP, I noticed that I was unable to access any right-click menus, be it on the desktop, firefox, or any folders/files. When I hit the right button, the X server seems to freeze - although I can still move the mouse cursor, I cannot left click on anything until I hit Alt-ESC.... after I hit Alt-ESC, normal operation is restored, allowing me to left click normally until I hit the right button again, and it starts all over.
It's a really weird problem that I have googled and searched other forums for... haven't found anywhere that this type of behavior is mentioned. I have double checked my xorg.conf for incorrect entries, but everything seems to be normal. I'm at a loss of what to do next - anyone have any ideas? openSUSE 10.3 (2.6.22.12-0.1-default) Gnome 2.20.0 Synaptics Touchpad - Dell Latitude 110L Let me know if any more information is needed..... Thanks! |
Problem solved - somehow the ability to zoom in on a part of the desktop (set via desktop effects) was assigned to just the right mouse button - usually it is a combination of keys.... not sure how this happened, but I set it to a combination of keys that I would never use, since I never use the feature.... this fixed my ability to right click...
