weird problem with PS2 devices under gdm

Hi everyone,
I've been using Debian sarge for a couple of months and it operated absolutely ok until yesterday, when I found that my PS2 mouse and keyboard fail to function under kdm.

During the bootup, at least the keyboard can be detected. And I can input anything in the console. However, when gdm is initialized, the keyboard and the mouse fail to function immediately. and I even have no chance to do anything except rebooting.

I have tested with USB mice and keyboards, the mouse is always okay, and the keyboard I need to plugout and plugin again after gdm is started, in order to make it functions. And the funny thing is, once i reinsert the USB keyboard, the PS2 one starts to work as well, and can be used for some time until it hangs again.

I checked my /etc/X11/XFConfig-4 file and everything seems to be quite okqy. And this problem came all in a sudden, just after one restart operation by me.

could anyone help me on this issue?

Try doing
Code:
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
or simply
Code:
base-config
again, and make sure you chose the right keyboard & mouse. Try using the basic PS/2 driver for your mouse, instead of some any other driver / modules.
Good luck!
