Weird Printing Problems
Howdy,
I have a computer that was running Ubuntu 11.04. I was trying to print to a multifunction Ricoh 3260C over the network, but if it did print, it took forever, or sometimes would not connect. I have tried every driver and protocol combination possible, I am absolutely certain neither of these are a problem. I wiped it and tried CentOS 6, but had the same problems. I repeated my attempts to try different drivers and protocols and the same stuff happened. Depending on the driver I used, it would either get stuck at "Connected to printer..." or it would take forever to spool up. Could this be a hardware problem? I don't have any spare NICs around. Thanks and I hope I was specific enough. |
Not enough information to know if it is a hardware or driver problem.
I would probably stick to either SMB or IPP and configure the printer with a static IP address. What did you use for the cups printer URL? I quickly glanced at the network manual. Just for info I might try to see if FTP printing works just to bypass cups and the drivers to make sure the hardware is working. |
