Weird hard drive issue

I bought a new Seagate 300gb sata drive and cant get it to work. It works under windows. But the weird thing is the following:

I plugged my hard drive and booted in linux, didnt work so i went to windows and did some misc stuff with partition magic. I changed my swap partition from primary to logical, dont ask why. Then I tried to boot in Linux, everything goes normally until I get into Gnome´s login screen. My keyboard doesent work! Have no idea why.. it works while linux is booting but no more at the login screen.

I changed swap back to primary from windows but same issue. What the hell could this be?

Im using Debian 3.1.

Any help is appreciated.
