Webcam Not working
 
My webcam is not working on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
lsusb gives
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0c45:6270 Microdia PC Camera (SN9C201 + MI0360/MT9V011 or MI0360SOC/MT9V111) U-CAM PC Camera NE878, Whitcom WHC017, ...

Installed cheese, but not detected

In the gstreamer-properties also it is not detected

while issuing tail -f /var/log/syslog

You need the camera driver. See for example, http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=17132

I find better luck with UVC webcams. UVC support is in the linux kernel and USB UVC webcams work automatically. See also http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/
