Web cam/audio choppy what hardware should be upgraded?

800 mhz, 256 RAM...

...my web cam records video, but is very choppy at times...

...playing MP3s from RealPlayer...that is also choppy at times, slow to load...

...if I increase the RAM by 128, will that remove the choppiness?

Running SUSE

i don't think more RAM will solve this. maybe the audio drivers have a bug. also try increasing the buffer (ask if you don't know how [i will get an email because i subscribed here, like in all threads where i answer])

It could be Realplayer screwing up because it is sluggish on an Intel T7300 processor. I have played MP3 files on an Athlon 700 MHz and even on a Pentium II 400 MHz with no problems. I suggest use mplayer from the command line to play the MP3 file. It could be the hard drive is going.
