Question Washed out Monitor Colours

I have 2 Acer 21" monitors, about 5 yrs old, whose colours have faded to a degree that small text is barely readable.

No amount of tweaking the settings helps.

Does anybody know whether there is an internal knob or screw which might help the situation? (like there used to be in CRTs). The monitors are destined to go the the recycling centre so I don't mind risking kiiling them while trying to cure them.

Sounds like the fluorescent tubes responsible for the backlight are pretty much burned out.

The tubes can be replaced, and it is also possible to convert a monitor from fluorescent to modern LED backlighting, but unfortunately it's unlikely to be worth the effort for an old 21" monitor.

Solved (sort of)

I am marking this a solved. I will buy the required lamps and try to fix the monitor.
