Wake up USB printer

I have a Lexmark z615 hooked up to my linux box and all works well except for one minor annoyance.

Under windows, if you send a print job to the printer when it is turned off, the printer wakes up and the job is printed successfully. Under linux the printer does not wake up, and obviously the job does not get printed. As soon as I turn the printer on and re-submit the job everything is fine.

This is not a big issue, just a minor annoyance. Anyone got any idea how to wake up the printer in linux?

Does the printer have an RPC program. On some of the printers I have worked on there is the option to disable the sleep function. It is usually a program you can get from the manufacturer that lets you change various printer settings.

Might be worth a shot anyway
