Waiting for device /dev/hde2 to appear... Not found

Hello, I am running SUSE SLES 9.0... Originally, it was running on kernel 2.6.5 but it would not detect my nforce network card nor my chipset from my motherboard so I decided to do a complie straight to kernel 2.13.1. Everything seems complied correctly except when I try to reboot, I am getting the error below. Not sure why the device is not found. I am only using one 100 gig SATA hard-drive with only SUSE installed. I am also running the following:

MSI Neo4/SLI motherboard
512mb ram
100 gig SATA hd
nividia chipset

I am not sure if the new modules detected the chipset... PLEASE HELP!!

When I try to boot, it give me this error

"device /dev/hde2 to appear... Not found"

Thanks

Did you make an init ramdisk (via mkinitrd)? I noticed this problem happening before under my own SuSE machine, after upgrading mkinitrd package as well as putting in a new kernel. Try running mkinitrd (you can boot with a regular linux distro installer, and just make sure to go to a console, mount the hdd, mount the proc fs, and chroot into it, then run mkinitrd) on the machine and see if you still get the same issues.
