Wacom area problems (and more!) in Fedora

Hello,

I and many of my friends have been having issues with our wacom graphire3 tablets in Fedora Core 4 (with kernal 2.6.15_1833FC4) on the computers at school. The computers all have the default Fedora Core 4 installations (I think) and I've only done work with graphire3s (though intuoss' seem to have a slew of other problems which I haven't even tried to tackle yet).

Our wacom tablets work OK but very often the stylus cannot reach the edges of the screen by about 15 to 50 pixels. When this happens you must move the stylus to the opposing edge of the tablet and sweep back across. It happens often in all directions and is very annoying.

A few days ago, I noticed the xorg.conf file had no wacom entries in it so I tried editing it to have the appropriate options (I'm able to log in as root). Unfortuneatly, this caused both side buttons to issue a right click and the problems with not reaching the edge persisted. I can include the xorg.conf wacom lines I've added but I've tried so many different ways, no matter what I do, it still doesn't seem to work.

I've even tried downloading the latest [beta] sources (beta because they seem to be the only version with true 2.6.15 support) and while SOMETIMES a middle mouse click seemed to work when I issued an "insmod ./wacom.ko" from within the linuxwacom/src/2.6.15 folder, the not-reaching-the-edge-of-the-screen problem remained and problems with middle mouse clicks would arise again after using the tablet for a bit.

What advice or suggestions do people have? Does anyone know of similar problems? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
