Voyager 100 - firmware loads succesfully, but eci load2 fails

Hi. I'm new here, as I am new to Linux.

I have managed to make progress with my modem installation on Linux (considering I couldn't make head nor tail of the drivers or any installation instructions when I started, I have come quite far). I have the driver files installed, I have configured it, and I have managed to get to stage three of the startup process of the modem when I run startmodem. (I am using the ECI ADSL driver). The firmware loads successfully, but then the message "can't find your Globespan USB ADSL WAN modem", ECI Load2 fails, and the program terminates.

I am here to ask what could be causing the error, and what might need fixing. Any and all possible problems would be helpful, as I will look through everything that could possibly be wrong and attempt to fix it.

Thanks alot.

Welcome to LQ. What distro are you using? -- J.W.

Thankyou :). I am using SuSE 9.1 Pro.

My friend claims to have his standard Voyager working, (using the same distro) but I have doubts as to his ability to not LIE. Anyway, it is getting on my nerves. I can't test anything right now as I am at college and late for my lesson :S.

Thanks for any help.
