volume control on aspire 5920 not working in mandriva 2009
 
hey guys,

im having a problem with my aspire 5920 laptop, this model has a volume control wheel located on the front of the chassis. the volume wheel has worked perfectly in versions of ubuntu and fedora but since switching to mandriva it has stopped working completely

im a complete noob to linux so i got this file as requested.

and the distro is mandriva 2009 ONE

if anyone has any input on this i would be very grateful

all though i know its not an important feature im a very lazy person lol

well after you insatall 2009 you will do a update it will be about 500 to 700 mb's then you will be using the new 2.6.27.7 kernel. now you will be up and going . but if you do not want to ok. guess your using mmmmmmm kde mmmmmmm gnome mmmmmmm not sure. so open a terminal and type su- then enter then your password then type harddrake2 and then look for your sound device. if it is there then it is configured or configure it. now after that type exit and now your back to being a user type alsamixer make sure you volume is up.
wish you would have went to the mandriva forum this has been handled many time twice today by me. but most people know what desktop they are using sence you didnt i just had you use a terminal. my computer icon.could work to.
