Vivitar ViviCam 3350, io-library 'Error updating port settings'

dmesg | tail

[ 164.980202] usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4

When I attach the camera Import Photos (gThumb) appears with Argus DC-1510 selected as the camera attached. The error message reads:

An error occured in the io-library ('Error updating port settings'): Could not release interface 0 (Invalid argument).

When I attempt to add the camera in gtkam it also 'detects' Argus DC-1510 even though The ViviCam 3350 is available in the list of cameras available. Either way, DC-1510 or ViviCam 3350 the message that I get is 'Could not initialize camera'.

Any help greatly appreciated.
