Visioneer 6200 USB scanner

A friend of mine gave me a visioneer 6200 usb scanner and I'm trying to see if it'll work. I dual boot with win2k and it doesn't work there though it did work on win98 on her computer. (driver issue)

I've looked up information on google and found that the "scanner" module is what I should use so I did modprobe scanner. No errors there. SANE, however, doesn't seem to work with it.

# sane-find-scanner

found USB scanner (vendor=0x0461, product=0x0345) at /dev/usb/scanner0
found USB scanner (vendor=0x0461 [Primax], product=0x0345 [USB Scanner]) at libusb:001:002
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

I do scanimage -L but it tries to read it from my tv card:

# scanimage -L
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname BT878(ATI TV-Wonder VE) virtual device

so i tried the following:

# scanimage --device=primax:/dev/usb/scanner0
scanimage: sane_start: Access to resource has been denied

now from the output of sane-find-scanner it says to read the backend's manpage. what's the backend... man sane?

It finds the scanner on /dev/usb/scanner0 but it doesn't work. Does anyone know if there is a program for it? (Is sane the only scanner program for linux?) I've never used a scanner before so it's all totally new to me.
