Visioneer 4400 scanner

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone has had any experience with a Visioneer 4400 USB scanner.

SuSE picked up that there was a scanner plugged in, but failed to identify it, and the number 4400 was suspiciously absent in Yast's list of known Visioneer scanners.

I've scoured Google for any info, and come up blank, so I'm falling on the mercy of the forum -- Please help! :(

I am pretty sure that Suse installs sane. And according to sane-project.org it is an unsupported device. Not sure of any other scanning backend.

Aw, rats. :( I guess that's the end of that quest.

But thanks for looking, kak. :)

I don't suppose you know if there's any odds of a driver suddenly materialising in the near future? Would it be worth me hanging onto it for a bit, just in case, or should I just give up now and get rid of it?

After some googling, found this website :

Didn't read everything but looks like someone is trying to make it work.

Visioneer OneTouch USB Scanner (CentOS SANE detects0

So, in CentOS 6.5 the Visioneer USB 4400 OneTouch is detected now. But I still cannot scan with sane. These devices are tough and last a LONG time. So could SOMEONE write a driver for this already? P-p-p-p-p-p-please?
