video and sound problems

Hi all! I originally posted this at the laptop-forum, but as its kinda' hardware-related, im rude and also posting it here :-)

I've got an European Toshiba model Satellite Pro 4220XCDT with slack9.0 installed. It's a PIII450, 200mbRAM. Everythings working ok, but then I wanted to do more than just listen to mp3's and surfin' around (yeah, really! :)). I wanted to watch some movies. But suddenly everythings a mess. Mplayer gives me this message "Your computer is to slow....." and then the video starts stuttering.

After playin' abit around, I tried without sound. And, wosh!, the video is smooth as cream... So, without video, the sound is okay, and without sound, the video is okay.... But as one would presume, I really want to do both, preferably at the same time :)

Anybody? plz? help!

Try using the "-framedrop" switch when you run mplayer. I have a fairly decent system, and I still have to run it with that switch in fullscreen mode. You probably won't even notice the dropped frames. It just helps mplayer keep the A/V sync better.
