via686a base address not set error in dmesg on boot
Here's the full text of the line from dmesg:
[4294705.743000] via686a 0000:00:07.4: base address not set - upgrade BIOS or use force_addr=0xaddr Running xubuntu 6.06 on servelinux enote laptop aka the old "lindows mobile pc" All my hardware seems to be working fine for the most part. Is this something that I shoud be concerned about? I'm somewhat anal-retentive about keeping a clean error free system, so I would like to clear this message up if at all possible. |
Bump...any takers?

vt596_smbus
Yeah, I'm using an old complaq, and I'm getting the same dmesg error:
[17179590.684000] vt596_smbus 0000:00:14.4: SMBUS: Error: Host SMBus controller not enabled! - upgrade BIOS or use force=1 Something else I've noticed earlier is that when I run a root terminal and run the command "update-manager" one of the errors I get says that dbus could not be initiated. I think it might be related, but I'm really not sure. I'm going to try to get some info from using the command lspci, and maybe try to figure out where to put that data. Will keep you posted. :study: Josh |
