VIA VT8233 AC97' soundcard
Redhat Linux 9 kernel 2.4.20-8
KDE environment
Problems:
1. soundcard detected but there is no sound output from XMMS, aRTs, and games.
2. XMMS hang when an .ogg file is played
3. should ALSA be installed though card is detected?
In the Settings->Control Centre->Sound, the Enable/Start Sound server on startup.
If it is disabled, arts server will not be running and hence no sound.
1. kill aRTs sound server via CTRL+ALT=DEL.
2. uncheck start aRTs sound server via Control Center in KDE. cant hear sys sound events but XMMS runs fine.
