VIA chipset with 2.6.10 kernel possible? (no dma)

I'm trying to find source or a workaround in order to get my VIA VT8237 IDE controller working properly with my 2.6.10 kernel so that I can enable DMA and my system will run at a decent speed. Does anybody know if this is possible? The VIA823cxxx driver doesn't seem to work.

Thanks.
