VI686a Modem install failure
Hey guys.
I need some help with the installation of a win modem....
I have downloaded the drivers for this modem from the ent, but still i cannot get it up and running.
I am runnign Mandrake 9.1.
No compilation of the kernel has been done.
HardDrake does detect the modem, but it does so as other devices...
Info in HardDrake as follows:
Vendor: \x{200E}VIA Technologies
Bus: \x{200E}PCI

The drivers i have downloaded are PCTEL 0.9.6 for via686a
I have tried installing the drivers as follows...
"tar zxvf pctel-0.9.6.tar.gz"
"cd pctel-0.9.6"
"./configure --with-hal=via686a
As soon as i run this command it fails with error modversions.h not available or some such message.
I have also downloaded the rpm for this modem, but my kernel version seem to be to new ( 4.20.19 or something)
Please help!!!!
I am getting fedup, thinking of dumping linux at the moment!!!!
