vesafb on 2.6.15+ uses 100% cpu and is damn slow

I have a nvidia geforce ti4200 g. card. On 2.6.14 and before, the framebuffer was working fine, you type ls and in couple of ms you get the whole output. On 2.6.15.* and 2.6.16 I get 100% cpu nd line-by-line output of text, really slow - about 8-10s to cover the screen by new text.
In kernel i have only vesafb drivers eabled, and console rotation is disabled. Actually i dad a `make oldconfig` with an old config, so the settings should be the same in *.14 and *.15.
Is it a kernel bug, does anyone else get these symptoms? or is it something i f**ed up with my pc? when i boot *.14 it still works fine, btw.

thanks for any help

nvidia drivers are for X and not for the framebuffer.
nvidiafb drivers (framebuffer drivers) and nvidia (X) driveres are in conflict - if i have nvidia framebuffer i cannot run X with nvidia drivers, so, either slow fb, or slow X (or both fast on an older kernel - 2.6.14.5)

anybody know the problem?
