Very strange keyboard problem
 

For the past few days I've noticed a strange keyboard problem. When typing a document or typing in forums, Ilook back at what I've typed and Inoticed I've missed spaces here and there, or at least it seems that way.
It ONLY ever happens after a capital I.
For example - Ican't seem to get my spaces to appear. Ilike linux.
Those two examples weren't done on purpose, that is actually how they came out but Iwasn't looking at the screen.
I'll type them again while looking - I can't seem to get my spaces to appear. I like linux.
When looking and not Itype at the same speed and the fact that all other spaces appear show there's nothing wrong with spacebar and the keyboard is only a few weeks old.
Of course when I'm looking I'm more conscious of the problem so Iprobably type slightly more deliberately.

So could there be something wrong within linux making the keyboard do this or am I just developing a strange medical disorder?

I've got a new keyboard and one of the shift keys requires extra pressure to work. Sometimes I have to go back and convert the letter to a capital or upper level character.

Maybe something similar is happening in your case?

The problem you describe sounds like you've just got a defective keyboard, and I'd suggest returning it for an exchange. Unfortunately, keyboards these days are made out of the cheapest possible components, and are almost disposable items.

I finally got the root of this strange problem and there's nothing wrong with the keyboard after all.
I installed gnome-screenshot yesterday and I noticed while typing later on the screenshot box kept appearing and then something clicked. I remembered something in beryl settings regarding gnome-screenshot and sure enough, the app set to use for screenshots was gnome-screenshot and the key combo was <Shift><Space>.
So it seem when typing capital I's I'm pressing the space bar just before releasing the shift key and that was trying to tell gnome-screenshot to take a cap but because it wasn't actually installed before I didn't get the box so had no idea.
