Vanishing mouse

I'm using SuSE 8.0 Pro and I have problems with it recognizing my Genius USB optical mouse.

When the system boots/loads, it reaches "starting hardware scan on boot" and either beeps and sees the mouse and everything is fine, or just continues without even stopping to scan.

If it doesn't see it, I login with the keyboard, unplug the mouse, replug it (it beeps and the mouse lights on), logout, and here I have my mouse again.

Any suggestions to have SuSE scan and see my mouse everytime it boots?

Thanks a lot!
