USR External Modem

I am totally new to Linux - I don't know how to do anything, so please be gentle with me.

I have installed Red Hat 8.0 with no problems, except that I can't get the modem working. It is a 3Com US Robotics external serial 56k Voice Fax Modem Model Number 015663-00.

I have tried a different external serial modem, made by Archtek, but I couldn't get that working either.

I've been using the Internet Configuration Wizard under System Tools to try to install it.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

Yes, you are new to the linux. Kasparov, have you tried plugging the power cord into it? It is practically impossible for a serial external device not to work with Linux.

Yes!

When the Internet Configuration Wizard is probing, the modem lights flash but nothing is found...
